Terms
How coins, cards, passes and bookings work at Gemini, in the words the counter uses.
Coins
Coins are how you pay for everything at Gemini: play, the bar and the store. You buy them with naira at the rate in force on the day; today 1 coin is ₦1. A change of rate prices new top-ups only and never changes the value of coins you already hold. Coins are never refunded and never expire.
VAT
Every price at Gemini includes VAT at 7.5%: play, the bar, the store, card fees and delivery. Receipts show how much of what you paid was VAT. A top-up is not taxed: coins are money in, and the VAT is inside the price of what you spend them on.
Top-ups
You can top up at the counter in cash, by transfer to the hub's account or by card on the terminal, or online by transfer to your own account number or by card through Paystack. A transfer counts when the bank confirms it to us, never from a screenshot. A top-up is from ₦100 to ₦1,000,000. Top-ups above the amounts shown carry bonus coins.
Your card
Your first card is as shown at the counter. Your coins live on your account, not on the card, so a lost card loses nothing: mark it lost on the site or at the counter and it stops working at every hub at once. The fee for a replacement card is as shown at the counter.
Passes and sessions
A pass is minutes on a station type, or a number of rounds of one game. A pass never expires until you use it, and works at any Gemini hub with that station type. The price with your card tapped at the counter is lower than the standard price. Ending a session early refunds nothing. A session can be paused for up to 5 minutes, twice, at no cost. You can extend at the counter at the same rate while coins cover it.
The queue
When every station is busy, a paid pass joins the queue in the order it was bought. If you leave without playing, your pass stays on your account, unused. The queue clears when the hub closes; passes are kept.
Bookings
You can book a station up to 7 days ahead, with at most 2 bookings at a time, paid in coins at the standard price. Moving or cancelling is free until 2 hours before the start; a cancelled booking returns its pass to your account. There is a grace of 10 minutes after the start time; after that the booking is forfeited and the coins are kept. A Manager can reverse a forfeit on the day, with a reason.
Gifts
You can send coins, a pass or a store item to a username, phone number or email. A phone or email with no account gets a new account and an email or a word at the counter to claim it. Before you confirm, the site shows who you are sending to. Above a set amount the site asks for your password again. A gift sent to the wrong person can be reversed by a Manager within 24 hours.
A negative balance
A balance can only go below zero when an online payment and a spend at a hub cross while the hub is offline. When that happens the account is flagged until a top-up brings it back above zero, and it cannot start a new session before then.
Behaviour and safety
Staff can end a session, remove you from the queue or refuse service when the rules of the hub or the safety of others require it. Every such action is recorded with the name of the person who took it and the reason.
